According to the Michelin guide, Chicago is no longer the Second City. Come mid-November – 110 years after the guide’s creation – Chicago restaurants will be scampering for their three stars.
Last night, the culinary elite (along with the well-heeled media and press that love them), gathered at A New Leaf in Lincoln Park to celebrate the announcement of the Michelin Guide Chicago, its 26th rendition. FEAST scoped out the scene and saw Bill Kim (Urban Belly), Christophe David (NoMI), Kevin Hickey (The Four Seasons), Ryan Pitts (RL) and Frank Brunacci (Sixteen) in attendance.
Jean Luc Naret, Michelin guide Director, addressed the fact that researchers have been investigating the Chicago dining scene for two years and claimed ignorance when it comes to who will land in the highly coveted guide: “To be honest with you, I don’t know yet.”
Mayor Daley, always on hand to support the culinary world, captivated the audience when he said that, “today is a day to celebrate our past, but mostly our future.”
