A while back I was running around, doing errands, when I spotted a woman wearing the most incredible beaded bracelets, all stacked on her wrist. I had to ask where she got her stunning jewelry and it was then that she let me in on the best secret: Serena Blake.

The Serena Blake jewelry line is made up of semi-precious and precious stones, exotic woods, 14-carat rose and yellow gold, sterling silver, and pewter, and can be embellished with anything from a vintage Buddha charm to a diamond peace sign. Designer and Glencoe resident, Lauren Rosen, was inspired to start designing the summer her children went away to camp for the first time.  Lauren says, “it was the first time I saw them get on the bus together which gave me that sense of achievement to be able to focus on the art I loved from my past. While previously living in Tucson, I began beading during the summer when all the colors were vibrant and the weather was so beautiful.  After gifting the bracelets to friends, I began to be commissioned by clients; anyone from well-known interior designers to upscale boutiques.” After selling the line at numerous boutiques, Lauren decided instead to sell only by one-on-one appointments. This way, customers can own a piece of jewelry that is customized and not something you see everyone wearing.  Word has spread like crazy and Lauren’s calendar is filled weekly with client appointments who want in on her awesome pieces.

So, let me tell you how this works.  You can meet with Lauren at her home or she can come to you.  You can then buy directly from Lauren’s inventory or work with her one-on-one to create a specific piece. Lauren is incredibly accommodating and friendly. She works with clients from Chicago to New York to Texas, and her dedication, style, and price-point are what I believe sets her apart from other beaded jewelry designers. Prices range between $45-$400 depending on how elaborate the stones and design are.
