Whole Foods

Good Food, Whole Food www.wholefoods.com

Don’t get me wrong, as a Cheeky girl I love my nights out. I love wearing my DiorShow mascara, sliding on my favorite pair of black suede pumps and heading over to that chic new downtown restaurant with the trendy décor and wine imported from the most select of Napa Valley’s vineyards.

But I also love my Uggs. My cozy sweatshirt. Those jeans that are never too tight no matter how much I eat. And Whole Food’s Prepared Foods (WFPF) section helps me live out my plain ole sweatshirt and jeans fantasies to their full potential.

No matter what food I am in the mood for, WFPF caters to my every culinary delight. Sushi, made-to-order sandwiches, pizza and a salad bar with enough options to make your head spin. And there are plenty of hits to choose from. Sundried tomato cous cous, wild mushroom soup with toasted pecans, tarragon chicken salad and a seasonal slathering of sweet potatoes with candied streusel topping that I swear they shipped directly from my grandma’s house.

For all you veggie Cheekies out there, WFPF also boasts an impressive amount of vegan and vegetarian options. Although I personally am no herbivore, I have found myself experimenting with some veggie options (kale?) I never otherwise included in my diet. And the Cheeky health nut inside you will squeal with delight over Whole Foods’ commitment to natural and organic ingredients.

But I am leaving out the most important part of the food pyramid which every true Cheeky girl knows is dessert. The dessert selections could rival Carrie Bradshaw’s shoe collection. Among the varied colorful mousses, truffles and pastries, my personal favorite has to be the caramel apple cheesecake (a seasonal favorite, so hurry and get some while you can).

One of the best aspects of the WFPF dining experience is your ability to mix and match. A little sweet, a little salty. Some traditional Japanese with some traditional American. No more indecisiveness when you are out to eat. You get what you see. You pick what you like. After work, during your lunch break or on a lazy Sunday afternoon, put anything and everything in a recycled cardboard box and take it home. Or sit in the cozy little Whole Foods café with free wifi. The choice is yours. Do what fits your day best.

Every girl needs her night of fabulous cocktails, fancy entrees and a place to wear her best designer shoes. But for your everyday Cheeky self – sweatshirt, Uggs and all, WFPF definitely fits the bill.

I can't get enough of the new Whole Foods (over by North Ave) with their great selection of prepared foods! Just two days ago I treated myself to the spicy tuna rolls and seaweed salad. I hate buffets, but one day I decided to go crazy and picked out a few items from the Indian bar and was pleasantly surprised. Not to mention their killer salad bar that has everything you could possibly want to put on your salad! And if you really want to go nuts, they have at least one bar (talking beer this time) and even a wine bar strategically stationed next to the cheese. Loves it!
